“Dazzling Diamonds Are More Than Just Dance”

It all started when…

The Jeannie Morris School of Dance wanted to venture into producing dance recitals. Mrs. Jeannie Morris-Brown’s institution had a reputation of providing top tier training in the art of baton twirling for over 3 decades in the city of New Orleans. She had a vision to expand the realm of training for her girls, and thought that dance would provide them with additional skills to strengthen their presence as performers. She enlisted Ms. Krystal James as an assistant dance instructor. Throughout the years, Ms. Krystal continued to return every recital season to create choreography and teach routines. As the school grew in size and reputation, she decided to feature a team of dancers to bring out her High-Stepping Majorettes in parades and public events - The Dazzling Diamonds were born!

In the midst of a new beginning, Ms. Krystal has continued on to create Dazzling Diamonds Dance & Talent. During her time as an instructor and choreographer, she realized that there are many different aspects to performing that cannot be encapsulated in dance alone. She then decided to share all of her additional talents and performance arts training acquired throughout her career and years as a performer.

A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Ms. Krystal James began her dance career at the young age of four years old. While attending Star Makers Dance Academy; Krystal studied tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, and hip hop. In addition to dancing at popular local events; Krystal was also a student & employee of John Casablanca’s Modeling & Talent, where she studied modeling and acting. She was also a student of Jeannie Morris; as she attended McDonough #32 Elementary, where she performed as a mascot for their Majorette Squad. During her departure from studio dance; she continued to perform as a dance team member for the Ellender Eaglettes; John Ehret Starlites; Xavier University Gold Star Dance Team & Nubian Expressions Performance Artists. She also managed to earn a spot on the New Orleans Honeybees; although, she did not perform for the team. Ms. Krystal continues to study dance, attending various dance & fitness conventions and workshops as well as studying dance trends of pop culture under many of today’s most popular choreographers.

Krystal has been teaching dance since 2001. As a senior in high school, Krystal began participating as an assistant instructor at Jeannie Morris School of Dance. As a student at Xavier University, Krystal began volunteering her time by working in various after school, park, and church programs as a dance instructor.

Ms. Krystal holds a Bachelors of Applied Science degree in Visual Communications from The Art Institute of Houston, she also continued her studies to acquire additional skills Certifications in Graphic Arts & Design, Zumba; and Group Fitness/Dance Instruction. In addition to teaching and directing the Dazzling Diamonds, Ms. Krystal works as a Freelance Graphic Designer and a Commercial Insurance Underwriter.
